Top 5 Passive Income Books To Achieve Financial Freedom

If you’re serious about building a passive income and escaping the 9-5 in exchange for financial freedom, you’re in the right place! These passive income books are sure to inspire.

When it comes to educating yourself, books are probably your most powerful tool. At least for myself, I’ve always found it easier to retain knowledge reading than watching a video for example.

While informative, I’ve always associated watching videos with ‘leisure time’. On the other hand, reading reminds me of being at school and that puts me in a more educational mindset.

Reading Passive Income Books

It might sound silly but I also find the same when taking notes. I also write my notes into a physical notebook rather than on my phone/computer. Again, this makes me feel more in an educational environment like being at school whereas using your phone is more like leisure time.

Enough rambling anyway, the bottom line is I think books are still your most powerful tool when it comes to educating yourself.

Now, if you’re looking to find new ways to generate income and live a more financially independent life, below is a list of some great resources in the form of passive income books.

Anyone who follows this blog knows how important it is to me to achieve financial freedom, and I believe the best way to do that is to work on building extra income streams in the form of passive income.

Here’s a small list of some of my top passive income book recommendations, including what they’re about and why I think they’re important. Feel free to click the titles to find out more or if you’re interested in purchasing.

1) The 4-Hour Work Week: Escape 9-5, Live Anywhere, and Join the New Rich – Tim Ferriss

4 Hour Work Week

First of all, it’s worth noting that Tim Ferriss is a pretty inspiring bloke. Not only is he the author of this great title, but he’s also a Chinese kickboxing champion, a world record holder, and speaks 6 languages. Oh, and he’s also a main character in As Seen On TV, a feature-length documentary.

Not bad.

In this title, Tim aims to drive home the concept of living more and working less. It’s all about escaping the rat race and how you can live a financially free and location independent life.

Throughout the book, Tim teaches how he went from earning $40k/year working 80 hour weeks, to $40k/month working 4 hour weeks. He also goes through the concept of outsourcing work to cheap virtual assistants.

You’ll also learn how people travel the world without quitting their jobs. Working in small bursts and taking ‘mini-retirements’, and eliminating large workloads.

This book is really in-line with my life goals and is a great read if you’re on the same path.

2) The $100 Startup: Fire Your Boss, Do What You Love and Work Better to Live More – Chris Guillebeau

$100 Startup

Another really popular passive income book. This one, by Chris Guillebeau, focuses on escaping the 9-5 in favour of building your own business.

The $100 Startup is like your blueprint to a new life.

This book will teach you how to earn as much as you do from a regular 9-5 job. Only, you’ll be doing so on your own terms, whenever and wherever you like.

You’ll also learn the importance of balancing passion with income in order to earn money doing something you love.

You’ll find great case studies of people who traded their 9-5 to start up their own venture with only $100.

This book again drives home the point of working less and living life more.

3) Passive Income In 90 Days: How to Passively Make $1K – $10K a Month in as Little as 90 Days – William U. Peña

Passive Income In 90 Days

This book details how you can make a passive income in under 3 months utilising 3 methods. Those methods include selling:

  • Video courses
  • eBooks
  • Possessions

What I like about this book is that it covers 3 modern methods for earning an extra income. These methods are well known and proven but this book goes into detail about how you can successfully implement strategies to make them work.

You’ll hear a lot of people that make money online talk about how they did so through selling eBooks and online courses. That seems to be the way to go in this day and age so this passive income book is a great resource to start from.

4) Click Millionaires – Scott Fox

Click Millionaires

This book is another reaffirming the importance of escaping the 9-5 to build your own business in order to achieve financial freedom.

In terms of passive income books, this is great because it focuses on building a business online. Probably your best bet to building a passive income and becoming financially independent these days.

Not to mention, it’s written by eCommerce expert Scott Fox.

In this book you’ll learn how to:

  • Find your own niche that matches your passion and interests
  • Choosing your business model – from affiliate marketing, to dropshipping, to blogging etc.
  • Becoming an authority figure within your niche
  • Building an audience/traffic
  • Build a life that revolves around what’s important to you
  • Realise success by balancing passion and profits

A great choice if you’re keen to get into the world of running an online business!

5) Virtual Freedom: How to Work with Virtual Staff to Buy More Time, Become More Productive, and Build Your Dream Business – Chris Ducker

Virtual Freedom

This book is a step-by-step guide to building an online business with an emphasis on using virtual staff.

What doing this achieves, is freeing up your time to do the things you love and spend your time however you wish, while having your virtual staff continue to grow your business for you.

This book reinforces that you don’t have to do everything yourself in order to be successful. Trying to do everything can be too much to handle for most, and one of the biggest contributing factors to people giving up.

A great resource for someone looking to build an online business and outsource some of the monogamous tasks so you can focus on the more important and more profitable ones.
